On August 22, 2024, He Zhenwei, President of the China Overseas Development Association, accompanied Vladimir Norov, former Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, on a visit to the Zhuhai Shanwei Chamber of Commerce for discussions and exchanges. The delegation was warmly received by Lin Zuwu, Party Secretary and President of the Chamber, along with other key leaders including Executive President Wu Chaoyu, Supervisor General Zeng Jitian, and Honorary Presidents Liu Liqiang, Huang Shaojiang, Lin Jinhe, and Xu Chuanyang. The meeting was held in the Chamber’s conference hall.
President Lin Zuwu expressed a warm welcome to President He Zhenwei and Secretary-General Norov, praising Norov’s extensive experience and wisdom in international affairs. Lin emphasized that Uzbekistan is a friendly neighbor of China and a founding member of the SCO. He noted that this visit symbolizes the deep friendship between the two countries and injects new energy into the promotion of economic and cultural integration. Lin further highlighted that the Zhuhai Shanwei Chamber of Commerce has been dedicated to creating cooperative platforms for its member enterprises, assisting them in expanding business channels and exploring new markets under the “Belt and Road” initiative.
During the meeting, Secretary-General Norov provided a detailed introduction to Uzbekistan's current economic policies, investment environment, and future prospects, and extended an invitation to the Chamber’s member enterprises to visit Uzbekistan for investment opportunities.
President He Zhenwei expressed the desire to establish a close cooperative relationship with the Chamber, proposing the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement to further enhance mutual collaboration.
Honorary President Liu Liqiang noted the Chamber’s rapid development in recent years and expressed hope that this exchange would create more opportunities for member enterprises to venture abroad, especially in expanding trade and investment activities within the "Belt and Road" regions, aiming for win-win cooperation.
The meeting also covered topics such as the role of the China Overseas Development Association in facilitating international business cooperation, Uzbekistan’s investment policies, and strategic cooperation between the Chamber and the Association.
The session concluded with the exchange of commemorative gifts and a group photo, marking the success of the event.
The visiting delegation also included Jasur Yuldoshev, Head of the Investment Agency of Bukhara Region, Uzbekistan, and other representatives from the China Overseas Development Association, including Senior Advisor Hu Daojun and Zhao Qiwen, Chairman of the China Overseas Investment Fair Organizing Committee. Leaders from the Zhuhai Shanwei Chamber of Commerce, such as Liu Zijia, Executive Director of Hengzhao International, Zhang Shengyi, General Assistant of Jiaxin International, and several other Vice Presidents, also attended the exchange.
